According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the police, the attacker forcibly entered the church premises with clear intent to vandalize, desecrate, and terrorize. Inside the house of worship, the destruction was severe and heartbreaking. Holy Bibles were torn apart, worship books destroyed, windows smashed, and the Holy Communion table violently overturned and thrown. Musical instruments used for praise and worship were damaged, and the sanctuary was left in ruins.
The scene inside the church reflected raw hatred and deliberate aggression an act meant not only to damage property, but to strike fear into the hearts of believers. This was not simple vandalism. It was an attack on faith, religious freedom, and human dignity.
Initially, the FIR was registered against unknown persons, but due to the swift and professional response of the Punjab Police, a suspect was soon arrested and taken into custody. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive, establish the full facts, and determine whether others were involved. Legal proceedings are now underway in accordance with Pakistani law.
We acknowledge and commend the Punjab Police for their rapid action. Their timely intervention prevented further damage and possible loss of life. This response is especially significant given the painful history of this region. In previous years, the same area witnessed the horrific murder of Shahzad and his pregnant wife, Shamma, who were brutally killed by a violent mob at a brick kiln. The police action in the present case helped ensure that history did not repeat itself.
Although no lives were lost in this latest incident, the desecration of Holy Bibles and sacred church property has deeply traumatized the Christian community. For believers, an attack on a church is an attack on their identity, faith, and right to worship in peace.
As 2026 begins, it is clear that Christians in Pakistan continue to face serious threats, persecution, and insecurity. These attacks serve as painful reminders of the challenges ahead. Yet, even in the face of fear, the Christian community remains steadfast holding onto faith, hope, and unity.
We urgently call upon the global body of Christ to stand with the persecuted Christians of Pakistan. Please keep them in your prayers for protection, justice, healing, courage, and strength. Let their suffering not go unnoticed, and let their voices be heard.
An attack on a church is not just an attack on a building it is an attack on the soul of a community.
